What You Need to Know Before You Take the Leap
If you are thinking about leaving the corporate 9-5 world to start your own online biz, I’m going to tell you the unfiltered truth that you probably won’t hear from anyone else.
Leaving the ‘security’ and success you may have created in your current career might feel scary, and it should.
But if you are going to take the leap, I want you to know the truth.
Not everyone will be successful, but it’s not for the reasons you might think.
Most people quit within the first 1-2 years, these years can be hard. The people that make it are in it for the long game, they know it will take time and they plan accordingly.
You will need to learn a set of skills that may have never crossed your mind as important to being a successful biz owner and CEO.
Mindset is literally everything when you are an entrepreneur. As cliche as it sounds, it’s honest to Goddess the truth. Learning to manage your thinking and emotional world are absolutely critical to your success and ability to keep going on the tough days.
Starting your own business can be a long string of ‘firsts’
Especially if you’re like me and you're transitioning from brick and mortar to online service business models. Your previous skills will transfer but you will be learning A LOT of new skills.
You have to be willing to suck at first.
This is crucial my friend, if you’re not willing to be bad first so you can get good, you will never take any action. This can be a hard pill to swallow when you’re coming from being a competent, capable and successful ‘employee’ or ‘manager’. (I can relate, going from global corporate manager for 15 years, managing 10’s of Millions to being a newbie in my office studying content creation and online marketing has humbled me in so many ways)
Entrepreneurship can be lonely, especially for us solo-preneurs.
As the CEO, employee, marketer, accountant, customer service rep, and consultant or coach, its important to find support and community is key.
But…..for me, it’s totally worth it.
It IS so much harder in so many ways than my previous corporate career…..
🔥🔥🔥 But it also feels like living, it feels like waking up to my life, it feels like creativity and contribution, it feels like societies rules have been shattered and now I decide what I can do, when I will do it, where I will work, how much I will earn, the impact I will create.
I know deep down that this is exactly where I am supposed to be, doing the work I am meant to do.
The real key is to find someone or someone’s who have been where you are, and who are where you are trying to go. Ask for help, create partnerships, find community.
It is 100% doable, but having mentors and community can help you make your dream inevitable.
Not to mention so much easier than going it alone.
